About Us

Mindset Matters, Inc. is a non-profit organization promoting credit education and financial literacy among youth and adults. We partner with other organizations and communities to empower individuals from all walks of life to properly managing their finances. We also help them teach them how to be proactive in attaining, and maintaining, good credit.

We do this with programs and activities developed to educate, equip, train, and encourage. Volunteers, donations, and community outreach enable us to bring this valuable information to people in our communities.

The more people enhance their credit, financial and social skills, the more likely they are to:

  • Increase savings
  • Buy homes
  • Improve their financial health
  • Have improved relationships
  • Have a better sense of well being

Studies have shown Financial and Social education fosters stability for individuals, families, and entire communities.

At Mindset Matters, Inc. we focus on the following key areas:

Credit card interest fees are confusing enough for adults and even more so for teens. Very few understand how they work, and how credit card debt can impact their lives. Surveys have found most teens don’t know how to balance a checkbook or find errors in a bank statement. This lack of financial understanding has forced a majority of college students to incur several thousand dollars in credit card debt while they are in school, without realizing the long-term consequences of their purchase. With an early financial education young people learn the value of saving money and sticking to a budget. They also learn how to avoid financial pitfalls, like unmanageable credit card debt, that could lead to a lifetime of financial pain. Fortunately, recent surveys have shown teens are eager to learn how to handle money and become financially responsible. This trend of enthusiastic young people has created the demand for the credit and financial workshops Mindset Matters, Inc. facilitates.
Manners and etiquette are things we demand of youth, but they are rarely taught in schools. In order to succeed in our society children and teens need to understand how important these things are. A stern lecture from an authority figure doesn’t cut it. Kids need to understand how society functions and how they fit into the big picture. They need to understand the importance of treating people with respect, valuing other, and living with integrity. Mindset Matters, Inc. understands the problem and, more importantly, we know the solution.
Most often the reason children lack the financial and social education we provide is because the adults in their lives are lacking the same information. Mindset Matters, Inc. is well aware of this. That’s why we also offer programs for adults. Once enlightened, they can help to reinforce the information provided to their children, and continue the good financial and social habits they learn for generations to come.
